The delegation of Murmansk took part in IV International Municipal Forum of the BRICS+ countries

Representatives of Murmansk city administration took part in the events of the IV International Municipal Forum of the BRICS+ countries, which was held on November 24-26 in St. Petersburg.

The BRICS+ Municipal Forum has been held in St. Petersburg since 2019. In addition to thematic sessions, the forum hosts an exhibition where companies and regions demonstrate their products, investment projects and achievements in various fields.

In 2022, the participants include public figures, politicians, entrepreneurs, opinion leaders and scientific experts from more than 40 countries. In thematic blocks, topics such as digital transformation, national development goals, urbanization, import substitution, green energy were discussed. 

– Among the topics of fundamental importance for us are improving the quality of the urban environment, the issues of disclosing the economic, tourist, cultural and educational potential of cities, – said the head of the administration of the city of Murmansk, Yuri Serdechkin. 

The multidisciplinary program of the Forum was aimed at integrating positive world experience, implementing state tasks on the ground, developing the social and economic well-being of municipal territories, and introducing information, digital and innovative technologies into the daily activities of large cities. 

In addition, within the framework of the forum, the head of the administration of the city of Murmansk, Yuri Serdechkin, met with the mayor of the city of Alanya (Republic of Turkey), Mr. Adem Murat Yuzhel, the parties discussed further interaction between sister cities in the field of culture, sports and economic development. 

Another meeting of representatives of the administration of the city of Murmansk took place with colleagues from Minsk – the deputy chairman of the Minsk city executive committee Nadezhda Lazarevich and the head of Moskovsky district administration of Minsk Tatyana Kolyadko. 

– Sister-city relations between the capital of the Arctic and the capital of the Republic of Belarus are developing especially actively. For example, we are actively collaborating on the renewal of the fleet of buses and trolleybuses of the leading public transport company in Murmansk, the Electrotransport company, and on the purchase of road equipment for the Road Administration,” said Yuri Serdechkin. 

The hero cities of Murmansk and Minsk intend to continue to maintain business ties between enterprises and friendly relations between cities.
